About Mending Our Mistakes, Inc.

Mending Our Mistakes, Inc. (M.O.M.) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization building a community-based Family Stabilization Ecosystem for families navigating the private family court and child support systems in Arkansas.

Mission

To stabilize fragile families navigating the private family court and child support systems by removing systemic barriers to mobility, employment, and legal compliance — ensuring children maintain safe, consistent parental connections.

Vision

A justice system where a family’s socioeconomic status does not dictate their legal outcomes or parental rights, and where stabilization infrastructure replaces punitive enforcement.

Philosophy

True accountability cannot exist without stability. Punishing indigent or destabilized parents for noncompliance with court orders — when they lack transit, housing, or mental health support — compounds trauma and harms children. By stabilizing the parent, we protect the child.

Core Principles

  • Dignity over Judgment. Meeting families where they are without shame.
  • Systemic Access. Leveling the playing field for self-represented litigants.
  • Holistic Interdependence. Recognizing that a housing failure is a transportation failure, which is an employment failure, which is a visitation failure.
  • Stability Before Accountability. Compliance capacity must be built before compliance can be demanded.
  • Accountability with Support. High expectations paired with the resources to meet them.
  • Trauma-Informed Coordination. Understanding that instability is often the result of trauma, not character.

Who We Serve

M.O.M. serves low-to-moderate-income families involved in private custody and visitation disputes, parents facing Office of Child Support Enforcement (OCSE) enforcement actions, and justice-involved parents reintegrating into their families.

The Systems Gap We Fill

Public child welfare cases receive coordinated case management, transportation support, supervised visitation infrastructure, and reunification planning. Private family court cases receive none of this — regardless of how similar the family’s needs may be. M.O.M. exists to fill that gap.

Geographic Scope

M.O.M. is launching with a targeted pilot county model — a Hub-and-Spoke structure with explicit transit-corridor links to surrounding rural and underserved communities across Arkansas.
